We Have The Family Of God
10 December – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: Other countries have beautiful Christmas trees. But we have the Belen – the most beautiful scene the world has ever known. Apt image by Bleak who captions it simply ‘Belen’ (flickr.com/). I chose his photo because it’s regal in its simplicity and it is so contrasting with the alias he has adopted as his flickr name: Bleak! (including the interjection). Invariably, the Belen shows Joseph, Mary, Jesus, the Wise Men, shepherds and angels. Whether the Belen (a nativity scene) is an invention of the Filipino or not, in its simplicity, it has a powerful message if we but stop a while and look. And it is this: Rich and poor, we belong to one family, the family of God.
