If Water Comes, Can Food Be Far Behind?

10 January – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: Unjust inequalities are tragically present in our world – particularly inequality in access to goods essential for life; like food, water, shelter, health. – Benedict XVI. The owner of the image says it is that of ‘my very favorite Indian dish,’ veggie korma. ‘It always tastes pretty good, but I never know how it should taste.’ Never mind, girl; it looks good enough to eat. For this blogpost, I chose your photograph because food and water always go together, such as in a nice dish; and the image suggests to me that other than food and water, the basic needs of people include an accessible supply of energy, a close family, an adequate house, good health – not to mention much much love above all others. I say: All those basic needs are but natural, God-given. I say: About inequality, that is man-made; inequality is basically a question of access. If the poor comes, can fools be far behind? Shakespeare says: What fools these mortals be!
