Squatter Shanties Are People
12 December – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: On the first Christmas, Our Lord was in a stable. He will be in the homes of squatters, filling their homes with love. On my part, I cannot imagine how I would be able to survive in a place like that. I can only imagine how unnatural squatters in shanties must feel, must live, must love. Here is a challenge for us to bring Christmas, to bring the love of God to the homes of the dispossessed, the deprived, the dregs of society. They are dregs because we make them. Verily I say to you, if you have done it to the least of my brethren, you have done it unto me.
