Joseph Works, Joseph Cares
18 December – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: Joseph watched over the Mother and Child. Every husband who is faithful to his wife, and works to take care of his children, is exactly like Joseph, the just man. Apt image by JenEx who captions it ‘Carved Wooden Holy Family’ (flickr.com/). I like this one because it’s simple and direct and clean. It shows Joseph’s cape opened wide by his two arms, the cape poised to envelop Mother & Child. I title it ‘Joseph Cares.’ It is also apt because, remember, Joseph was a carpenter and he worked with wood, with his hands of course. He was Joseph the Worker, not Joseph the Dreamer.
