Every Innocent Child Whose Heart Is Open

16 December 2006 – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: God came to the shepherds and to the kings. And He comes to every innocent child whose heart is open to receive Him. Apt image by MeMyselfEye who captions it ‘Innocent Child’ (flickr.com/). A tender image with a very powerful message: If you can see yourself in that flower, you are an innocent child. If you can’t, you have lost your mind, the purity of it. All children of all ages are innocent, until they lose their blamelessness, their playfulness, their inoffensiveness, their pure intentions, their artlessness, or their ignorance. In this sense, ignorance is bliss. Verily, I say to you, unless you be born again, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Heaven is for anyone whose heart is innocent, like that of a flower that belongs to itself, that belongs to the world.
