Mother & Child (Cambodia)
06 December – The pastoral text of Fr Reuter is this: On Calvary, Our Lord gave us the Virgin Mary as our mother. She has taken this to heart. She loves you, as a mother loves her children. Apt image by Maciej Dakowizc who captions it ‘100 Meters Away – Stung Meanchey’ (flickr.com/). , the mother and child breastfeeding 100 meters away from Smoky Mountain at the Stung Meanchey Municipal Waste Dump in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. What can I say? Mothers will always be mothers wherever they are, until they forget they are mothers above all. We have a mother who is above all mothers, and she ought to be the model. Look at the photo again; look at the face of this mother intent, absorbed in feeding her baby. Why wouldn’t a mother like Mary be doing that to her child? Note that we are all spiritual children of Mary.
